How is a bibliography presented?

How is a bibliography presented?

It has a simple heading, usually one of the following ...

  • Bibliography 
  • References
  • List of Sources

It is a simple list of the resources used ...

  • no numbers or bullets
  • with line space between each citation
  • in alphabetical order
  • sorted by the first word (usually either author surname or first word of title if no author)
  • numbers at the top at the list if the title begins with a number. (If the number is written as a word it goes in the alphabetical order)

Referencing styles

How are the citations / sources presented?

There are many different Referencing Style Guides. Whichever one you use, it must be used consistently. Your teacher, school, university may specify which style to use.
