Sarafino Enadio is the co-author (with Terry Whitebeach) of Trouble Tomorrow (Allen & Unwin), a young-adult novel based on his life as a Sudanese boy who survived civil war and years in a refugee camp. He lives in Hobart and has worked as a peace educator, teacher and choirmaster.

I was forced to flee my home in Mogadishu due to Somalia's shattering civil war. Separated from my family, I spent the next years doing what I could do to survive in Romania before arriving in Melbourne alone. At this time I was just a young boy of around 16yrs old. My first career was as a senior school maths teacher, but when I got married and had children I decided to have a go at getting a book published. Since then I have written and illustrated over 50 books on topics as diverse as Vikings, Irish druids, Australian history, travel, and toilets.

Barry Heard was conscripted in Australia’s first national-service ballot, and served in Vietnam as an infantryman and radio operator. After completing his national service, he returned home, where he found himself unable to settle down. He had ten different jobs in his first ten years back, worked as a teacher for a further ten years, and then held several mid-managerial posts before succumbing to a devastating breakdown due to severe post-traumatic stress disorder. Since recovering, Barry has decided to concentrate on his writing. His short stories have received several prizes, including the Sir Edmund Herring Memorial Award and the Sir Weary Dunlop Prize. Barry’s books include the bestselling memoir Well Done, Those Men, its prequel, The View from Connor’s Hill, and the World War I novel Tag. He lives with his family in rural Victoria.

JC (Jane Catherine) Burke was born and raised in Sydney. She’s the fourth of five girls and her parents were journalists. She remembers the tip tap of the typewriters and the stress in the house when deadlines were due. Burke prided herself in telling a good story, remembering all the small details, yet her first words weren’t written until she was 35 years old. They became her debut novel White Lies written under the guidance of an ASA Mentorship and was awarded a CBCA Notable Book. Since then, Burke has published many acclaimed and award winning novels with numerous international translations.

Lili Wilkinson is the author of sixteen books, including Green Valentine, The Boundless Sublime and After the Lights Go Out. She established insideadog.com.au and the Inky Awards at the Centre for Youth Literature, State Library of Victoria. Lili has a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Melbourne, and now spends most of her time reading and writing books for teenagers.

Michael Gerard Bauer was born and lives in Brisbane Australia. In 2000 he resigned from his full-time position as an English/Economics teacher to pursue his dream of becoming a writer.

Born in England, raised in Africa then South Australia, Simon Higgins is the author of critically acclaimed crime, adventure, and fantasy works. His historical tales are set in Asia, where he has lived, travelled extensively, studied and competed in martial arts contests.

​I wasn't always a writer. I used to be a lawyer. I spent my days in the city, rushing between courtrooms, drafting affidavits and briefing barristers. Then my father got sick and told me his holocaust story; a story that he'd kept hidden because he wanted to put his past behind him.
That story changed everything. The telling of it was the beginning of our friendship. ​
It was also the beginning of my writing career, because after I'd written about my father's tragic, brave life in The Tattooed Flower, I couldn't go back to being a lawyer.

Dee wanted to be a writer since she was seven-years old. She has published more than 20 books for children and young adults and many articles, short stories and poems.
She has been lucky enough to combine her loves of writing and travel into a career which takes her all over the world writing, researching and presenting workshops. She got to spend a WHOLE MONTH in Paris doing the research and writing one of her latest books, Beyond Belief. Her writing and writing workshops have taken her to Sharjah and Amsterdam and she is prepared to go almost anywhere (even do a tour of Paris sewers) to track down a good story.
